When life feels overwhelming

Life can look “fine” on the outside while feeling heavy on the inside. Maybe you’re:

  • Constantly overthinking or feeling on edge

  • Burned out from doing everything for everyone

  • Struggling with focus, follow-through, or motivation (ADHD)

  • Feeling irritable, numb, or emotionally drained

  • Losing yourself to perfectionism, people-pleasing, or pressure

  • Wondering if things will ever feel lighter

And for kids and teens:

  • Big emotions or meltdowns feel out of control

  • Worry shows up as stomachaches, school stress, or avoidance

  • ADHD makes life feel chaotic or overwhelming

  • Social situations feel confusing, intimidating, or exhausting

  • Transitions, bedtime, or homework bring daily battles

You don’t have to keep pushing through. Therapy gives you a grounded space to slow down, breathe, and feel like yourself again.

Meet Amy

Hi, I’m Amy Gregorie, LPCA, a therapist in Charleston, SC, providing both virtual therapy for adults and in-person therapy for kids and teens.

I help people move through anxiety, ADHD-related overwhelm, emotional burnout, and perfectionism so they can feel steady, confident, and connected again.

Before opening Calm Waters Counseling, I spent over a decade as a school counselor supporting children, teens, and families. That experience shaped my warm, practical, and down-to-earth approach to helping clients understand their emotions and create meaningful change.

My style is compassionate, curious, and always focused on helping you feel calmer, clearer, and more grounded.

How I Can Help

I provide therapy for children, teens, and adults using evidence-based approaches like CBT, ACT, and mindfulness. I focus on helping clients work through:

For Adults

  • Anxiety, panic, and chronic worry

  • Stress, burnout, and emotional overload

  • ADHD & executive functioning challenges

  • Depression, low mood, and disconnection

  • Perfectionism & people-pleasing

  • Life transitions, identity shifts & relationship stress

  • Low confidence, emotional reactivity, and overwhelm

For Children & Teens

  • Anxiety, fears, and excessive worry

  • School challenges, test anxiety & perfectionism

  • Emotional regulation and big feelings

  • ADHD symptoms & executive skills support

  • Social anxiety, avoidance, or peer conflict

  • Irritability, shutdowns & frustration tolerance

  • Separation anxiety, bedtime struggles & morning routines

Therapy is individualized and developmentally appropriate: play-based for younger kids, collaborative and skills-focused for teens, and insight-oriented for adults.

Beginning summer 2026, I will also offer SPACE Parent Counseling (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions)
for parents of anxious, avoidant, or highly sensitive kids.

  • Building coping skills that truly help

  • Supporting the nervous system through somatic + mindfulness work

  • Increasing flexibility, confidence, and resilience

FAQs

  • Individual therapy is $130 per 50-minute session.

  • I’m an out-of-network provider, but I partner with Thrizer, which helps clients use their insurance benefits for partial reimbursement. If you’ve met your deductible, Thrizer handles submission for you.

I am planning to begin accepting insurance in early 2026.

  • The first session is a structured, gentle intake designed to help us get a clear picture of what’s going on and what you need.

    For adults:
We talk through your concerns, your history with anxiety/ADHD/emotional stress, and what goals you want therapy to support. You’ll leave with a sense of your next steps and a plan tailored to you.

    For children & teens:
The initial appointment includes time with the caregiver and the child/teen. We focus on understanding your child’s emotions, patterns, strengths, and stressors. Sessions are developmentally appropriate - play-based for younger kids, activity- and conversation-based for teens.

By the end of the intake, you’ll have a clear plan for therapy and what to expect moving forward.
